The Review

Hardcore act Nails offer up three tracks that have been re-recorded from their 2009 debut of the same name. The 7inch starts fast and furious with a blast beat decimating your ears before a more Discharge-esque groove takes over proceedings.   “Confront Them” follows with more Motorhead punk and roll, complete with a nifty breakdown and swinging groove towards the end. The Motorhead/Discharge/GBH continues with “Lies, the third and final track. The bass rumbles, the drums thrash, the guitars... solo?! Yes, indeed they do- and all before a minute has gone by in the track. A chugging riff follows with that nasty distorted bass tone underpinning it all.

Apparently, original drummer Tom Hogan has been replaced by Taylor Young (who plays here) and this has led to a more focused and disciplined approach. It has surely worked as the three tracks here are concise, brutal and have attitude to spare.  If Black Breath and any of the aforementioned bands are your thing, check Nails out. Good feral stuff.
